Club Events

Throughout the years members of Kilmarnock and Loudoun Amateur Radio Club have activated many special event stations. The basis of these stations is to promote amateur radio within the local community to further the aims of the hobby whilst celebrating local events.Members of the club are regularly active running radio stations for Castles And Stately Homes On The Air (CASHOTA), Burns Day, Museums Weekend and many other special events throughout the local area. These events have proven to be very popular with members of the public who have taken a keen interest in the magic of radio and subsequently joined the club.  The DX contacts made by the special event stations brings world-wide recognition for the club.
The club is also very active in contesting - both SSB and CW.  The club station is on the air for many of the major contests such as CQWW, CQWPX, NFD and SSB FD.  For the RSGB IOTA contest the club regularly has 2 station operating from different locations.  A number of club members are very active contesters with some achieving high UK, European and even world rankings in major radio contests.
